Whether you work in the third sector, or volunteer, or are newly interested, there’s no doubt that The Gathering 2016 is the place to be this February for anyone and everyone involved in the third sector. Which is why YWCA Scotland – The Young Women’s Movement is so thrilled to be a part of it!

Stop by our stand

CVn8zSHWoAARR6aTeam members from our Glasgow and West Lothian centres, and from our Development Centre in Edinburgh, will be running a stand both days (stand 64!), and we hope that everyone stops by to say hello, grab a sticker or a badge, and learn more about what we do.

We want to live in a world where every women can shape her own life journey and fulfil her potential future, and where the voices of women are heard, respected and celebrated, and we’re helping to bring this about by:

  • Creating empowering spaces for girls and young women to meet together in groups and clubs, activities and conversations
  • Stimulating and supporting the growth of our membership, programmes, and centres bringing our form of “association” to into a 21st century operating model

So whether you are a school, a local authority, a youth and community work provider, a third sector organisation supporting vulnerable women, a community or faith group, or if you are just interested in what we do, we would love to work with you to give you the opportunity to add value to your work with girls and young women.

Join our session

We won’t just be running a stand, though – we will also be hosting a presentation-consultation event on Thursday 18 Feb from 10am in the Carron Suite. We are interested in hearing your positive ideas for supporting the leadership of young women in Scotland in the drive for gender equality.

CYrNO4EWkAAtS2yOur vision is of a world where every woman can shape her own life journey and fulfil her potential, where the voices of women are heard, respected and celebrated. Our focus is on young women under 30 leading change. As part of a worldwide movement, we have been involved in “Envisioning 2035” for young women across the globe.

We decided to undertake our own research into the status of young women in Scotland during 2015 by listening to the diverse voices of young women telling us about their experiences and aspirations. We talked to over 60 young women and have collated their findings into a report which will be updated year on year.

In this session we’d like to share the findings of our research into the status of young women in Scotland, raise questions and hear your ideas about what we can do to strengthen gender equality over the next twenty years, so we encourage everyone to join us by registering for the event here – it’s completely free.

If you are already planning on coming to The Gathering in February, check out our presentation-consultation. And if you weren’t, maybe you are now? We hope you will – we would love to see you all!
