YWCA ROUNDABOUT
Roundabout is a Women’s Community Centre dedicated to the eradication of racial discrimination in all its forms. Our aim is to empower women to explore and develop their full potential and to participate at all levels of society; challenging the causes of social, economic and political discrimination and exclusion.

Up to 85% of children attending come from Black, minority ethnic or dual heritage backgrounds. Many children will have experienced direct, personal, cultural or institutional discrimination. The Summer School enables children to develop their confidence, build new relationships and gain new skills. Volunteers participate in a 5 - day training program and gain valuable experience in intercultural children's and youth work, programme - planning/delivery and team-working.

Local Advisory Committee
Our Local Advisory Committee meets at least every two months to discuss and develop the work of the Centre and "hot topics": issues of concern to young women from all communities. We are committed to recruiting a culturally diverse committee, representative of and relevant to our service users. We welcome new members, and the only requirement is a commitment to equity, our aims and objectives.
Membership
We welcome everyone who shares our commitment to our values and principles to join us as members. All service users are encouraged to take out a membership. Members’ benefits include reduced fees for classes and the Intercultural Summer School, a centre newsletter and bi-annual YWCA Scotland Members’ Newsletter, opportunities to sit on our Local Advisory Committee or YWCA Scotland National Board of Directors, and access to local, national and international training and representation opportunities. Membership rates are: £12.00 waged £3.00 unwaged.
Volunteering
We value volunteers as skilled contributors to our services, providing the centre with a strong community foundation, new ideas and invaluable support. We particularly welcome volunteers from Black and Minority Ethnic communities. Travel expenses will be met and relevant training will be offered to all volunteers as detailed in our Volunteering Policy. All volunteers must take part in anti-discriminatory, cultural awareness and child protection training. If you have a few hours to spare every week or month and would like to help us deliver our services we would be pleased to hear from you. There are all sorts of skills we could benefit from so please don’t feel restricted by what we currently offer. Your ideas and skills may be just what we are after.
