Get Active
YWCA Scotland is strongly committed to volunteering as a major force
for empowering women of all ages, building self esteem, sharing existing
skills and developing new ones.
We need volunteers to contribute their time, expertise, energy and enthusiasm
and in return we will work to ensure that each volunteer enjoys their
involvement and gains from it in reaching their own personal potential.
By recognising the roles of volunteers, we aim to ensure they benefit
fully through having fun, gaining personally, and helping to develop our
local, national and international communities. We provide, training and
hands on experience in activities as varied as events organisation, childcare,
administration, campaigning, and governance. This will enable you to gain
skills and experience that will open doors into further education, employment
and life in general.

Volunteering Policy
Our volunteering policy gives a framework for recognising, recruiting,
supporting and valuing volunteers. We
encourage the participation of volunteers from under-represented groups
such as young women, women with a
disability and women from black and ethnic minority communities.
Volunteers’ expenses
Volunteers should not be out of pocket as a result of their voluntary
work with the organisation. Expenses can
be claimed for travel to and from home, childcare and carer costs, meal
allowance and overnight allowance at
the rates laid out by the organisation.
Want to make a difference in your local area?
All YWCA local projects offer a range of services and training from childcare
to IT, campaigning to cookery. Volunteers address local needs, while making
friends and developing their skills by contributing time, knowledge and
expertise right at the heart of their community.
Think you can lead a nation?
From governance to campaigns and events, volunteers make a difference
across the country. National volunteers work to address the issues that
affect all areas of Scotland socially, economically and politically, bringing
together women from all walks of life.
Fancy getting involved in something big?
As part of a global women’s movement volunteers have the opportunity
to work internationally, tackling our common concerns. You can become
involved in a global community of diverse cultures to build a strong,
safe and healthy world for all our futures.
