YWCA on the Move in Kirkcaldy

Feb 8, 2012

YWCA in Kirkcaldy is moving in March, from Pathhead Halls in Commercial Street to nearby Overton Community Centre.

Kim Smith, YWCA Scotland National Co-ordinator said:  “We’re excited about the move and the chance to develop even more services for young women, girls and local community.”

YWCA works with girls and young women to improve self-esteem, well-being and skills, helps them overcome disadvantage and supports them in achieving their full potential.

Rachael O’Byrne, YWCA Kirkcaldy Development Worker said: “We will be better placed to work with local schools and involve even more young women from the local area.”

YWCA will also continue its partnership with Fife Gingerbread to improve the health and well-being of isolated young parents and their children in Kirkcaldy; a project funded by the Scottish Government, Fife Area Budget and Equally Well.

In addition, the charity receives funding from Fife Council Community Learning & Development, Cashback for Communities and other grants to support work in Kirkcaldy.

Annette Rushford, Overton Community Centre Chair said: “We are really looking forward to working with YWCA and think that they will be a great asset and resource for our community.”

YWCA’s activities will continue at Pathhead Halls to the end of March and details of some changes to activity times from April will be available soon at www.ywcascotland.org
