'Y' Voice

Jan 19, 2012

YWCA Scotland is starting a new Project called ‘Y’ Voice in our Kirkcaldy centre.  This group will be encouraging and supporting girls and young women to become community activists, speak up about their rights and get their voices heard on the issues that matter to them.

If you are a young women aged 15-19 and would like to get involved please see the attached flyer for more details.  Don’t worry if this is the first time you have joined a group like this, all are welcome.

The group involves:

  • Planning and taking part in campaigns to make sure that girls and young women are being asked about the issues that matter to them.
  • Taking trips to places decisions are made that affect the lives of girls and young women in Scotland and making certain they are listening to our voices.
  • Becoming involved in some great peer education training, which will help you feel more confident, able to work with others and support you to improve as a leader.
  • Being supported to organise fun events to make sure loads of people know about the brilliant work the ‘Y’ Voice group is doing.
  • Learning more about the things that might stop girls and young women achieving their ambitions.

The ‘Y’ Voice Group will run on a Thursday evening between 6-8pm and will be held at Pathhead Halls, 134 Commercial Street, Kirkcaldy, KY1 2NX.

Volunteers must arrange their own transport but relevant public transport expenses will be reimbursed on a weekly basis.
