YWCA SCOTLAND PRESIDENT

Kirsty Kelly
President

Hi I'm Kirsty Kelly, 23 years old, and I have been an active member of the YWCA since the age of 7 years old when I joined YWCA Kirkcaldy.

I was elected YWCA Scotland President in 2003 and in the summer of 2007 I was elected onto the World YWCA Board. I also sit on the European YWCA committee.

As part of YWCA Scotland I have had the opportunity to attend two YWCA World Councils in Australia 2003 and Kenya 2007. Attending World Council is a unique experience bringing together women from all corners of the Globe to network, share experiences and agree the priorities for next four years.

YWCA is definitely a charity very close to my heart and one I fully believe in. I am committed to promoting the aims and opportunities of YWCA Scotland to every young women I meet and encouraging them to join us .

Scottish Parliament recognises opportunities and success for young women's leadership in YWCA Scotland.

Opportunities and Success for Young Women in YWCA Scotland - Members Motion .

“That the Parliament congratulates YWCA Scotland President, Kirsty Kelly, on her election to the YWCA World Board; notes that Kirsty, from Kinghorn in Fife, is still in her early twenties; recognises that this is a huge personal achievement and honour for Kirsty, as well as recognition for the work of YWCA Scotland in developing young women's leadership; further notes that Kirsty's election means that a member of YWCA Scotland has held a leadership place at world level for three consecutive terms, as her predecessor, Julie Dickson was from Kirkcaldy and served two terms at this level, and considers it particularly relevant, as we celebrate International Women's Day, to recognise these young women who have been great ambassadors for Scotland and exemplars of the life changing opportunities available in the YWCA. “
